Why Mind Power Works for Some but Not Others

By Tim Ong

Ever since I started writing about my experience with mind power and spirituality, I’ve had people asking me how it has changed my life. These are the very people who have also tried their hands on mind power and it hasn’t seem to work for them.

So why does mind power work for some and not for others? Read the rest of this entry »

The Power of Dominant Thought

by Brian Carson

Wayne Dyer, the famous author, speaker and teacher, likes to say in his writings that what you focus on expands. Nothing could be more profound or truthful.

What you focus on expands should be a rallying cry for all who want and are willing to pay the price to live the life they imagine. We are the sum total of all our thoughts. Our dominant thoughts create the life we have lived up to this point and will create our futures as well. Make no mistake about it. Read the rest of this entry »

How To End Procrastination For Good

By Nick Arrizza, M.D.

In a recent article entitled:

“C. Cheng Interviews Dr. Arrizza On The Issue Of Procrastination.”

I delineated two underlying scenarios which lead to the phenomenon of procrastination. I summarize these two scenarios here:

In Case (A) the main factors causing procrastination result from the unwillingness of the individual to do something that is not desired by them internally. Hence the procrastination is a way of the individual attempting to assert control over a situation in the only way they can. It is very much like saying to the “powers that be” “No I Don’t Want To Do This”.

In Case (B) this situation is somewhat more complex. When an individual is unable to muster up the energy to do something they really want for themselves it’s often because they are being undermined by some sort of fear that they are carrying within themselves. For instance the fear of making a mistake, the fear of failing, the fear of being disappointed, the fear of being criticized or judged, the fear of success and so on. These fears essentially undermine the individual’s confidence, their self esteem, and their self worth, depletes their energy and makes them feel so inadequate and unable to be in charge of their life that they essentially give up trying. Simple Acts of Kindness

By Tel Asiado

All over the world today we are aware of alarming situations, including terrorist bombings, racial gang wars and natural disasters. By our thoughts and actions as ordinary citizens, let us remind ourselves that we have an impact on what is happening around us. We can make this be felt by practicing little acts of kindness in our daily lives.

Kindness is among the gifts we can easily spread to others. We can start with our family and friends, and eventually extend it to our office mates. We can also show kindness to strangers who need help along the way. Our next door neighbour may get sick and need us to go to a drugstore, a brother or sister may need urgently our presence or financial assistance, or an elderly person down the street may need the lawn mowed. Whenever we take the time to give kindness, we will find that it returns to us in the form of happiness. We feel good inside for reaching out to someone, don’t we? Read the rest of this entry »

How to Manifest Intentions - Five Mistakes

Steve Pavlina discusses five reasons why our intentions do not manifest in the real world:

1) Failing to hold the intention
2) No energy behind the intention.
3) Intention is fuzzy
4) Cancellation of the intention
5) Your intention conflicts with your beliefs.

The article ends with an advice:

When applying intention-manifestation, be patient with yourself. When you slip, don’t fall. If you catch yourself succumbing to mental laziness, fuzziness, or negative thinking, simply turn your attention back to what you want. With practice you’ll build mental discipline, and you’ll find it easier to stay focused on your desires without so much internal resistance. And then you’ll find your intentions manifesting much more smoothly and effortlessly.

C. Cheng Interviews Dr. Arrizza On The Issue of Procrastination

By Nick Arrizza, M.D.

1. From your own view, what is procrastination?

Procrastination is a form of emotional, mental and behavioral inertia. From physics the word “inertia” represents the tendency for an object to remain at rest or resist being moved. Procrastination is the inertia an individual experiences when they need to accomplish a given task. It can manifest as an inability to think about the task clearly, the inability to summon up any desire to undertake the task and an inability to actually accomplish the task physically.

Another way of putting it is that the individual feels they must put more energy into doing something than they are willing to put into it, hence it doesn’t get done. As a result there is a sort of energy threshold that must be overcome by the individual. Read the rest of this entry »

The Curse of The ‘Green-Eyed Monster’

By Karen Lamb

Don’t you just love to delve into the real human behaviour and analyse the why’s of society. People fascinate me to the point of obsession and of all the options available for self-development - the best and biggest one of all is that of - life experience itself!

How we complicate issues for ourselves because of our small-minded and closed in attitude and total lack of tolerance in an imperfect world; where we still feel above others to the point that we feel powerful and elevated enough to judge them according to our own standards? Or worse still, align ourselves to people whose influences are maybe less than savoury? Read the rest of this entry »

The Root Cause for Procrastination

By Deon Du Plessis

Why is it that we as human beings often behave in ways that we don’t really want to? How often have you said or done something only to cringe at the thought of it afterwards? The truth is that your behaviour is mostly driven by your unconscious mind, especially behaviours that is hard to explain from an intellectual point of view. Procrastination is knowing what to do, having the ability and desire to do it, but still you don’t do it. Although there are many apparent causes for procrastination, the root cause for this illogical behaviour resides in your unconscious mind. Read the rest of this entry »

What Creates Self-Esteem?

By: Margaret Paul, Ph.D.

We all want to feel good about ourselves but many of us go about this in the ways that will never create self-esteem.

Do you believe that you will have high self-esteem when:

• You make a lot of money?
• You achieve a high position in your work?
• You have an expensive car or an expensive home?
• You are famous?
• You find the right relationship?
• You receive approval from the important people in your life?

While all of these can result in momentary good feelings, none of them create a deep and abiding sense of self-esteem. Read the rest of this entry »
