100% Commitment
by Richard Blackstone
What is one of the common threads of people in life we call “Successful?” They are 100% committed to their success.
There is a big difference between 99% commitment and 100% commitment. It is that 1% that allows you to have the laser focus required to meet your goals. When you are only 99% committed there is always the possibility of compromising your agenda. You leave yourself open to doubt and that 1% of doubt can doom your entire project.
It all comes down to your thoughts. Everything in your life starts with your thoughts. Our thoughts are the foundation of everything that happens in our lives. First we think a thought about something and then we make a choice to pursue that thought or let it go. If we decide to pursue a thought we give energy to that thought and the more energy we put into a thought the stronger it becomes. Energy in motion becomes ‘Emotion’ and the more emotional we are about any given thought or subject the more we attract that thought or subject into our reality. That is the nature of the creative process.
When you are 100% committed to your success you do not entertain those thoughts that sidetrack you from your intentions. You have made a predetermination about what you will allow into your process and you have the ability to focus on only those thoughts that serve you in achieving your success.
Without that 100% commitment you leave open a space of opportunity for thoughts that take your focus off of your success and move you in a direction away from where you really want to go
.
This may sound like a lot of discipline for yourself when you first think about it and, of course, it is. But it is a discipline born of love of self. You see, the root of the word “discipline” is “disciple.” When you have discipline you are a disciple to yourself. Remember, you are the main character in your play. When you are 100% committed to your success you are 100% responsible for the way your play turns out.
When you are less than 100% committed to your success you are allowing others to influence and write your story for you. You then have excuses. When you have 100% commitment you have no excuses. You are 100% accountable for everything that happens in your life. This is true whether you are 100% committed to your success or whether you less than 100%. Since you are going to be 100% accountable no matter what you might as well be 100% committed and make it a source of pride about how you are writing, directing and acting out the play of your life.
